Ouch! I hurt myself!!! This is a pic of my shoulder - I will spare you the photo of my leg:)Last Saturday, I signed up for a half-marathon. They also had a 10K option, and it sounds weird to say this, but it didn't seem long enough to me so I did the half marathon. Argh! My lower body was extremely sore from a weight training I did on Thursday at the gym so I anticipated that it would be a more difficult run for me. This run is named after the Cinderella trail near the beginning of the run, but a lot of race participants, after the run, stated that this event would have been more appropriately named as "Cinderella's wicked step sister" and I totally agree.
The run was very challenging and there were several happenings that added to the difficulty. A lot of the race participants were stung by bees. Fortunately, I was not one of them. We heard that one person had to be taken to the hospital. I also saw a guy on a steep hill with a sprained ankle and he was just sitting there.
At one point during the run I was apparently not paying enough attention and I had a pretty bad fall. Luckily I am just bruised and scraped up because I put my water bottle out in front of me to land on as I was flying through the air. I look somewhat like a domestic violence victim as I have a huge black and blue bruise on my upper thigh, knee and hip. I busted up my shoulder and scraped my arm, but I was fine to continue running. Thank goodness. I would really be irritated if I broke something and couldn't continue to run! I will have to be more careful! Still running!
