28 feels GREAT!!

Some of the girls after the MLR run the previous weekend.
This is how dirty your legs and ankles will get after a 28 mile run on the trails! Some of this is a tan line but the majority is DIRT!!!

Me and my teammate Kelsey before the run!

Last weekend's coached run was our longest training run of the Ultra season. We ran 28 miles (some of it on the actual race day race course) and it was overall a great training run for me. I felt very good over the entire distance and had no issues or aggravations (other than a headache which I started out the day with anyway). I was sure to eat and hydrate and take my time. Obviously, I was a bit tired at the end, but I was still in a good mood, smiling and happy for myself and all of my amazing teammates who also covered the distance. We ROCK!!!!
I can't believe it but I was not even sore after the 28 mile run which is astonishing to me considering how sore I remember being when I ran my first marathon. Obviously, I needed recovery time as I was tired, but really no aches or pains or other issues after this training run. I am feeling very strong and capable of conquering my first Ultramarathon in just a few weeks.
As I near the end of this training season (race day is August 1 and I will be running 31 miles), I am personally amazed at what our team has accomplished individually and as a team in raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
What is really crazy, is now I am setting my sites on maybe doing a 50 mile race sometime in the next year. I want to continue training at this level and keep building my strength and endurance and I will know when it is time.
