This weekend our run was held at the Redwood Regional Park - Skyline Staging Area. The first part of this weekend's course is where we will be at mile 14 of our 31 mile event. It is a challenging course, lots of steep inclines and drops but it was lots of fun. I kept thinking to myself - I have to do this part of the course AFTER I have already run 14 miles - Whew! Better keep training, girl!!This was a beautiful run - are you beginning to see a theme with these trail runs? We started out in a fairly open space, but soon we were in the middle of the redwood forest. Huge trees towering over us, lots of beautiful ferns, roots, rocks, little waterways, downed trees, you name it. Loved it!
Since myself and my teammate were in charge of this run, we actually ran the course on Tuesday of this week as well. Since there were so many twists and turns and it was raining, it took us about 14 miles and close to 4 hours to figure it all out. We were muddy, drenched and starving at the end, but we are so nuts that we both had lots of fun.
Sticking to my training schedule, I ran for an hour on Sunday (6 miles) as well.
I am feeling very excited that I was not even sore with all the running I did this week. The first time I ran this particular course with our coach about 1 1/2 months ago, I was so sore that I felt crippled. My legs just felt tired (obviously so) these past two times.
I also upped my strength training sessions to 1 hour sessions twice a week as well. I am feeling great and very strong! Enjoy the pictures.
